Spalting is the result of fungi mycelium colonizing a tree or log and creating pigment that leaves unique and interesting patterns in the wood. These fungi are often part of the forests process of reclaiming downed or dying wood and breaking it down.

Our artists using their knowledge of the fungi and forest, harvest the wooden logs and branches, cut them to size and bake them to sterilize and preserve the wood in it's state.

They then shape them when needed(often leaving the beautiful abstract natural edges when present), sand them using various grits until smooth and soft to the touch, and polish.
Jump rings are hand hammered to complement the organic nature of the wood.

Each piece is unique and captures the beauty of the final stages of the life cycle of the tree and the symbiosis between forest and fungi.
